Final: Mode of Appeal Poster

In the beginning of this project I chose the Musica Viva poster by Josef Muller-Brockmann

I decided that this poster used the Pathos mode of appeal (barely...). With the assignment being that we explore the other 2 modes (Ethos and Logos), I began sketching ideas...

After I got a few good ideas for ethos and logos I began making images. During this phase I tried many different mediums.

At this point I picked the images that I felt worked the best and started doing layouts for the poster re-make digitally.

I then did many iterations moving the type all over the place and also trying different variations of color. They can be seen Here

After crit and meeting with Jamie I decided to refine 2 versions...

Once again we had a crit and decision was made that the one that sits on the angle was more interesting than the vertical. Some refinements were made and here we are...

The concept is based on the logos mode of appeal. The temporal lobe is the part of the brain responsible for hearing, and I wanted to show what your brain activity would be like if you attended this concert. I fell pretty good with the way this turned out and can't wait to see it plotted.
