Vector v.s. Bitmap
I will have to render my markings as bitmap files and edit them in Photoshop due to the fine detail in the over spray of the spray paint. This distortion would be lost if I attempted to edit them in Illustrator.

Print making process
I did some rubbings on the ground to capture a concrete texture. I also tried to have a crack, but I haven't been successful with that yet.
I used a fake flower and spun it in circles, dragged it across the page, and all kinds of other things.
I also sprayed spray paint on the page using the fake flower as a stencil to create "Blossoming Graffiti".

Haiku
I went looking on the web and found a haiku that I liked:
Freeway overpass--
Blossoms in graffiti on
fog-wrapped June mornings
I can relate to the theme as it is something I experience almost every morning.
I have also compiled the word list.

Project 2: Line composition, and photo book
At the start of this project I was thinking to myself "Oh, great. Lines.". I had no idea where this thing was going to go. Now, looking back on the project as a whole, I realize that if I can convey an emotion with simple lines this only helps me when I have more than lines to work with.
After I had my line studies complete and began working on the photos, I started to think of things that would resemble the line studies that I could photograph. Then I thought about things that could give off an emotion that would match the emotion in my line studies.
Throughout my book I kept an A-B pattern using an Anxiety-Calm pattern. My emotions are Calm, Hope, Proud, Suspense, and Relaxed. I have never produced a book like this before and thought it was pretty cool, and the skill is something I will continue to use in the future.

Words and images for Project 3 (Typography)
Here are some of the words I came up with for the letter 'G':
Gold
Gorilla
Glue
Glove
Grass
Grey
Glass
Ground
Green
Gradient
Gravel
Graph
Grid
Giraffe
Gun
Grain
Gasoline
Grit
Garden
Gutter
Initially I thought to use gun and gasoline as combustion, or war, but since war was my theme for our last project I decided I should go another direction. I thought of poaching with giraffe and gun, but I thought that was too close to the example given in class. After more thinking and gathering images and textures I narrowed it down to 'Rough' with grit and gravel, and 'baseball' with glove and grass. Since I am a baseball fan and the season is nearing its end, I think I'm going to go with baseball. I snapped some photos of my own glove and found some high quality images on the web of some grass with chalk lines to represent the foul lines (free stock images). Here is what I have:
I will crop the goal, and the white background out of the images and use straight lines for my composition.

G's up
These are my 8 compositions for the letter G. I will be re-creating the two with the most yellow dots.

I started with history, and after the mind-mapping process I ended up with war. I chose 9 words that I thought fit with the theme. (Power, Combat, Genocide, Airstrike, Death, Freedom, Allies, Difference, and Disaster.) Some of the words were easier than others to convey, I had a lot of trouble coming up with ideas for the word death especially.
After the initial sketching process, I felt that I was really on the right track as far as my dot compositions were concerned. The type I think was a little bit more difficult.
Throughout this project I have learned that images in the project are only part of the overall composition. Placement of those images, and placement of text also greatly impact your overall message.
I think I could improve on my craft.
